About CYDA

Ten years is always a landmark in the history of an institution. CYDA completed that landmark on 10th January 2009. It is a moment of great joy for all of us who are associated with CYDA. Today CYDA is a centre of excellence and has a unique niche in its work with young people in the country. This was possible not only because of the members of CYDA, but the support and solidarity that we received from everyone who came across the organization. The activities of CYDA speak for itself - That it is not just an institution but also a movement created by young people to help them be responsible, productive and independent individuals. During this journey, there are individuals, organizations, institutions, foundations and corporate houses that supported our efforts in order to make a difference to the youth in the country. It is very difficult to name one, and we are sure that all of us together made the remarkable contribution.

It was in 1999 that CYDA began with "A dream" – A dream to work with young people to provide a space to get INSPIRED, INVOLVED and INITIATED as our motto and focus of our work. With the support and solidarity of all, we could reach out to over half a million young people in not only in Maharashtra but also in South Asian countries. It was possible because of the people’s association as Members, Advisors, staff, volunteers, interns, supporters and finally guests. We wish this valuable relationship to continue so that we can serve the youth of India efficiently and effectively.

Why we exist

YOUTH forms an important resource and no exercise of a nation building can be completed without taking the concerns and issues of the youth on board. One fifth of the population in South Asia is between the ages of 15 and 24. India, the youngest country in the world, with over 70% of its current population below 35 years of age is host to a large youth population — 240 million plus in the age bracket of 10 years to 24 years.
