Youth Action Project Awards

CYDA is announcing the Youth Action Project Awards for the year 2009. Across the world, college campuses brim with activity. Many youth take their first steps toward leading social change through student-led groups and campaigns. Fuelled by idealism and passion, students have been in the forefront of many social movements, in some cases inspiring large-scale social change. With this objective CYDA is encouraging and supporting young people who are from colleges of Pune and willing to work in campus to involve students in social action. Students who are working in their own colleges as well as across colleges are encouraged to apply

The initiatives shall be for young people in the age group of 15-25years, shall include minimum 4 people as team members, .it shall be youth lead, focusing on issues relevant to the city. The initiative constitutes either of college student involved in social action on or outside their campus, or young individuals working on campuses. The group has been active for at least 4-6 months with a demonstrated record of social action. The initiative has an outreach of at least 50 young people through their group or the action undertaken. The group is committed to democracy, non-violence, justice, equality and diversity through their demonstrated project/actions on campus

The anchor of the project has a responsible working knowledge of English or Hindi, the anchor and members demonstrate some key attributes of being social change agents including, a deep sense of self awareness, a passion and a vision for social change, a general awareness of concerns on campus and social issues, openness to learning, ability to take others along, having a conflict positive orientation and a win win attitude, having confidence with humility, a positive attitude, an ability to reflect, act and observe and an ability to relate with people. The selected applicant will be invited for a presentation on August 1st

The best presentations will be given Rs.10000/- and certificates. Those who are interested please apply before 30thth July 2009. The Awards will be given on International Youth Day 2009.
