My Strength & Self Esteem made my way perfect

29 years Sapna Wavalkar is a resident of Kondhwa, stays with her parents and two daughters.   Her husband does not support in family needs and is not at all cooperative, due to which, there were several disputes within the family and one fine day, along with her two daughters (3rd & 6th Grades) she went to stay with her maternal family.

Sapna’s father works as a labour at construction site and mother is a domestic worker earning at a very low income. Scenario turned difficult for Sapna’s parents to meet the end needs. Sapna wished not to burden her parents and gave a thought process for doing some job and support the family.  Previously, she was working in marketing sector, but to very low income, she left the job. Sapna was in a state of stress.

Sapna was well aware about the non-traditional livelihood program of CYDA, as she witnessed many flyers on social media, but could not step ahead, due to non-willingness of her parents and also, she was not self-esteemed, if she can do the work of non-traditional livelihood programs.

One fine day, she approached CYDA and participated in the soft skills training program. This training helped Sapna to learn how to behave at work place and coordinate with everyone. She also shared that this training made her realize that girls can also work equally with men and there are numerous job opportunities.

Presently, she is working at HP Petrol pump, near Lal Devul, Camp, earning an income of Rs.10,000/- per month.

Sapna said – “I used to be scared while working at the petrol pump but the motivation given by CYDA organization made it possible for me to work. I feel happy and proud to stand on my own feet without any support of my husband and family. I am thankful to CYDA organization for empowering me to turn into a brave woman.”
